

OUR TEAM
THE CALIFORNIA STD/HIV PREVENTION TRAINING CENTER
For the past 16 years, the CA PTC has been part of the National Network of STD/HIV Prevention Training Centers (NNPTC). We provide STD/HIV clinical, behavioral intervention, and partner services training and technical assistance (TA) services for health providers throughout the country. The mission of the Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) Program of the CA PTC is to increase the capacity of community-based organizations (CBOs) and health departments throughout the United States to implement, monitor, and evaluate HIV prevention evidence-based interventions (EBI) and public health strategies (PHS).
THE BRIDGING GROUP, LLC
The Bridging Group, in partnership with the CBA Program, provides training and technical assistance through Project Start. Project START is an HIV/STI/hepatitis risk reduction program for people returning to the community after incarceration.

THE COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCILS
Two community advisory councils provide input to our CBA program, focusing their efforts on the capacity building needs of community-based organizations and health departments. Members include representatives from several CBOs and health departments across the country whose diverse regional perspectives help to inform our work. Member organizations are located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington.

OUR RECENT PROJECTS
EBIs/Public Health Strategies
- Provided an Adapting EBIs workshop enabling agencies to meet the unique needs of their communities
- Assisted a CBO with creating marketing materials for recruitment and retention of CRCS participants
- Supported a CBO in selecting an appropriate EBI for Black MSM
- Facilitated an interactive webinar on community level interventions
- Provided Spanish-language Partnership for Health Orientation via live web-conference Created a blended e-learning overview of Many Men, Many Voices for technical assistance providers
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Built health department capacity to evaluate Project Start
- Helped a CBO improve their evaluation tools to assess the impact of adaptations made to Many Men, Many Voices
- Assisted a health department in evaluating an online social marketing campaign
- Worked with a health department to develop an evaluation plan for their city-wide HIV prevention efforts
Innovative Training Curricula
- Developed and conducted training for prevention providers on new strategies for working with MSM of color
- Worked with a health department to develop HIV 101 curricula to increase HIV literacy in communities impacted by HIV
- Trained CBO staff on strategic program planning in order to effectively respond to RFPs

The CA PTC is multidisciplinary in our reach and has long recognized the importance of, and been committed to, providing STD/HIV prevention training and technical assistance to health departments and community-based organizations at the local, state, national, and international levels.

HOW TO REQUEST CBA SERVICES
There are three ways to request capacity building services for your agency, organization, or health department.
- If your HIV prevention work is directly funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CLICK HERE to access the CRIS (CBA Request Information System) website.
- If your program is funded by your local or state health department, your project officer will be able to place the request into the CRIS system on your behalf. Contact your project officer directly.
- If your HIV prevention work is not funded by the CDC or your state, contact us for assistance at:
