Ask, Screen, Intervene - Module 1
This skills-building class is designed for clinicians who provide care for persons with HIV, and promotes the use of the clinical encounter for the prevention of HIV transmission. Module 1, entitled "Risk Screening: Behavioral Risk and STDs" addresses:
1) Emerging trends in the HIV epidemic,
2) The increasingly recognized role of other STDs in the transmission and acquisition of HIV,
3) Recommendations for enhancing STD/HIV risk screening and assessment techniques,
4) Overcoming barriers to the use of tailored prevention strategies with individual patients.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This activity for 1.25 contact hours is provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditations. The CDC has been reviewed and approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, VA 22102. The CDC has awarded .1 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to participants who successfully complete this program.
