STD AWARENESS MONTH IS A GO!
AND
CALIFORNIA LEADS THE WAY AGAIN!
What better way to reach out to young people than through the cell phone and text messaging! Hookup, a new youth-focused text messaging program, is being launched by the California Family Health Council (CFHC) in partnership with Internet Sexuality Information Services, Inc., (ISIS) and the California Department of Health's STD Control Branch. By sending the word "hookup" as a text message to 61827, youth can get "hooked-up" with weekly tips on sexual health and can enter their zip-code to obtain local clinic referrals for STD testing and reproductive health services. Youth will also be linked to www.teensource.org, CFHC's sexual health website, to get further information about how to protect themselves from STDs and unintended pregnancies and make responsible sexual health choices: The SWAP website contains a sample announcement, recommendations for marketing on the cheap and electronic versions of the Hookup marketing materials:
- Sample announcement
- Guide to Marketing on the Cheap
- Flyers/Posters (8.5x11 & 11x17)
- Palm card
- Sticker
- Temporary tattoo
- Logos
