FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  I see so many interesting courses listed in your catalog but some that I am interested in don't have dates scheduled. How can I get into one of these courses?

We are capable of conducting all of the courses listed in our catalog, unfortunately funding and contractual limitations do not allow us to offer many of them on a regular basis. If you are interested in specific courses you can contact us at captc@ucsf.edu to see about scheduling one in your area. If we are not able to schedule a course at that time we can discuss other potential options.

2.  My staff and I are often in need of continuing education units for a variety of professions. What do you offer and how much do they cost?

We offer continuing education units (CEU) for most professions in the public health and broader health care arena. CEU information for each of our courses can be found in the course description in our Course Catalog. This will include the number of credits and associated costs if applicable. For information about our complete listing of CEUs please see our Continuing Education page.

3.  Help! I took a course 3 months ago and lost my certificate which I need to renew my license which expires soon. What can I do?

You're in luck! Please log into our website with the email you used to register for the course and your password. You will find a complete listing of all courses you attended in the Personal menu under the My Training link, including associated certificates.

4.  I want to become an HIV test counselor.  Can I get certified through you?

We do not certify HIV test counselors, although many of our courses support skill enhancement for test counselors. If you want to become a test counselor in California contact Alliance Health Project which conducts trainings to certifiy counselors for the State. For other states contact your state HIV/AIDS program or a local AIDS service organization that provides HIV testing. Good luck and thank you for your interest!
