About

Target audience:

West Region EHE County Health Department staff and their community partners as well as CDC-funded Health Department staff and HIV Healthcare providers in the West Region.

Purpose:

The purpose of this virtual symposium is to provide attendees with information about how medical mistrust and distrust has adversely impacted efforts to end the HIV epidemic. This event will also provide attendees with strategies to meaningfully engage priority populations in effort to address medical mistrust and distrust and end the HIV epidemic.

Objectives:

By the end of the symposium, attendees will:

  • Describe the historical context of medical mistrust and distrust

  • Explain one way that COVID-19 adversely impacts mistrust, distrust and HIV prevention

  • Describe the lived experience of individuals with medical mistrust and distrust

  • Identify at least two strategies to address medical mistrust and distrust
