Binational Cervical Cancer Outreach Project

The Binational Cervical Cancer Outreach Project has developed two Spanish language audio spots to promote cervical cancer prevention awareness among the Latino community.

Hispanic women have the highest rate of cervical cancer in the state of California.*

These two Spanish audio messages describe the importance of getting a pap test and provide contact information about where and how to access convenient services. In California, pap tests are available to women with or without insurance and regardless of their legal status. The message underscores that a woman's health affects all members of her family and community.

Air these spots during the month and throughout the year!

Bi-National Health Week, October 6-13, 2008

How to Use these Free Audio spots:

  • CLICK HERE to listen to and download both PSAs from our SWAP Material Search page. Enter "Cervical Cancer PSA" in the text box to locate and download the audio spots.
  • Forward audio spots to local Spanish language radio stations. Request that the spots be aired as PSAs. One spot is 60 seconds and the other is 90 seconds.
  • Offer to arrange for a guest speaker on this topic for all talk shows. A list of speakers is available by contacting April Fernandez at april.fernandez@cdph.ca.gov.
  • For your incoming phone calls: while callers are on hold, play this message instead of music to inform your callers about cervical cancer prevention.
  • Play audio spots in your waiting room or at a health fair.

Help reduce women's risk for cervical cancer.

If you would like to arrange for a guest speaker or need more information, please contact April Fernandez at april.fernandez@cdph.ca.gov
