This two day provider training is designed to build skill, knowledge and awareness of relevant concerns that impact MSM; with an emphasis on men of color. The goal of the training is to improve the engagement of Gay/Bi men in comprehensive prevention services. The course focuses on an examination of the impact of social context and its relationship to HIV risk and access to services. The curriculum examines such topics as homophobia, social and sexual networks, identity concerns and the challenges of stigma. A holistic model and a strength-based counseling approach that identifies resiliency factors will be presented for providers to consider when responding to the HIV risk concerns of their MSM patients and clients.

The California STD/HIV Prevention Training Center is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP 14547 for 13.2 contact hours for New Foundations: Expanding the HIV Prevention Framework with Gay/Bi and Other MSM.
