Enhancing CBA: A Best Practices Summit (West Coast)
Who should attend?
This two-day summit will convene Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) providers and Community Based Organization (CBO) program staff who are supporting/ implementing Many Men Many Voices (3MV), d-up!, Mpowerment, and Popular Opinion Leader (POL) with African American and Latino MSM. This summit is a call to action for individuals wanting to further enhance CBA services and to improve intervention implementation.
Space is limited, so register now! CBA providers and CBO program staff are welcome to participate in the two-day meeting which will include group discussions on training challenges, implementation pitfalls, and successes in the field. The summit will include both large general sessions and small break-out sessions.
What's on the agenda?
The summit will start at 8:30 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m. both days (click here to view the preliminary agenda). Our guest speakers will address the challenges, successes and opportunities for HIV prevention among African American and Latino MSM, and share their expertise on the interventions listed above. Confirmed speakers include:

Kenneth Jones, MSW, Behavioral Scientist, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Leo Wilton, Ph.D., Asst. Professor of Human Development and Africana Studies, Binghamton University
Additionally, we will offer a "Tools Table" for participants to share copies of locally developed CBA-related and agency-promotional materials with other summit participants. These can include brochures, CD-ROMs, directories, fliers, and other creative promotional materials. Agencies wishing to share such resources should plan to bring and/or ship 50 - 75 copies to the meeting site.
The summit will conclude with recommendations for best practices, networking and mentoring opportunities, and the provision of other resources and tools.
Traveling from Out of Town?
Each participating agency will be responsible for their staff's transportation and lodging expenses. Participants traveling greater distances to attend the summit may book a guest room at a neighboring host hotel at a discounted and exclusive rate for summit participants.
